Starfish Scottsdale Brings Coastal Asian Dining to the Valley This May

Known for its coastal-inspired Asian cuisine and elevated dining experience in Orange County, the group is officially making its Arizona debut this spring.

The restaurant will open on Tuesday, May 5 in McCormick Ranch at 8390 E. Vía de Ventura, with limited preview reservations available from May 1 through May 4.

A New Chapter for Starfish Hospitality Group

Starfish Hospitality Group, founded in 2011 by Gretchen and Archie McConnell, has built a strong reputation in California with popular concepts including Starfish Laguna Beach, Starfish Newport Beach, Starfish Coastal Catering, and The Cove by Starfish.

This Scottsdale opening marks the group’s first location outside of California, a major milestone in its growth.

“Since deciding to expand into Arizona, we’ve been working extremely hard behind-the-scenes to bring Starfish to life in Scottsdale,” said co-owner Gretchen McConnell. “We’re thrilled to finally announce our opening and invite the community to experience our dedication to freshness, quality, ambiance and service firsthand.”

Menu Inspired by Coastal Asia

Starfish Scottsdale will feature a broad menu of more than 70 shareable dishes, drawing inspiration from the coastal flavors of Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, China, and Japan.

Signature dishes include:

• Lobster Macadamia Roll
• Braised BBQ Pork Buns
• Thai Curry Chicken
• Candy Dragon Prawns

The concept is designed around shared dining, making it ideal for both casual lunches and celebratory dinners.

A Space Designed for Experience

The new Scottsdale location spans 5,200 square feet, including a 3,800-square-foot indoor dining area and a 1,400-square-foot patio. The design emphasizes an indoor-outdoor flow with a tropical, coastal aesthetic.

Expect lush fabrics, custom booth seating, and curated artwork that reflects Southeast Asian coastal culture. The space is designed to feel immersive, transportive, and vibrant while still remaining approachable for everyday dining.

Dining Experience & Hours

Starfish Scottsdale will offer a flexible dining experience, including dine-in service, takeout, delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats, private dining, and catering options.

• Sunday–Thursday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
• Friday–Saturday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Daily Happy Hour: 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (featuring 30+ items starting at $13)
