One thing Arizona does incredibly well? Mexican food. 🌮
From Sonoran hot dogs and homemade tamales to birria enchiladas, breakfast burritos and vegan tacos, there are so many different ways to experience Mexican cuisine across the state.
Now, 10 Arizona restaurants are getting some well-deserved national attention after earning spots on Yelp’s Top 100 Mexican food spots in the U.S. and Canada for 2026.
The rankings were based on reviews from members of the Yelp Elite Squad. Yelp looked at businesses in its Mexican category and considered the volume and ratings of Elite reviews, with restaurants required to still be open as of July 31, 2026.
Here are the Arizona restaurants that made the list:
Yelp Rank: #24
Arizona’s highest-ranked restaurant on the list is Baja Cafe on Campbell. This Tucson breakfast spot puts a Southwestern spin on brunch with oversized plates and creative pancake flavors. Yelp specifically highlighted options like the Snickerdoodle and Lemon Blueberry pancakes.
Yelp Rank: #41
The Tamale Store specializes in one of the ultimate Mexican comfort foods: tamales. The Phoenix restaurant offers both savory and sweet varieties made from family recipes, with green chile chicken, red chile beef and sweet corn among the options highlighted by Yelp.

Morning Kick is all about big breakfasts. The Gilbert spot is known for oversized breakfast burritos filled with combinations of bacon, chorizo, sausage, eggs, seasoned tots and melted cheese. The menu also includes totchos, sweet treats and locally roasted coffee.

This Gilbert restaurant combines Texas barbecue with Mexican cuisine. Slow-smoked meats are at the center of the menu, including its brisket burrito, which blends traditional barbecue techniques with Mexican-inspired flavors.
Yelp Rank: #95
El Sinaloense puts Sinaloan flavors front and center with its take on the Sonoran hot dog, one of Southern Arizona’s signature street foods. Yelp highlighted hot dogs piled with toppings including guacamole, cheese and salsa.
Yelp Rank: #97
Rounding out Arizona’s restaurants at No. 97 is Tacos Veganos. The Phoenix restaurant puts a plant-based spin on Mexican street food, with a focus on creating sustainable dishes that are also flavorful and affordable.
What I love about this list is how much variety it represents.
You have breakfast in Tucson, tamales and tacos in Phoenix, modern Mexican cuisine surrounded by Sedona’s red rocks, massive breakfast burritos in Gilbert and even a restaurant combining Mexican flavors with Texas barbecue.
And with restaurants from Phoenix, Tucson, Gilbert and Sedona all represented, you could easily turn this list into an Arizona food road trip.
