Godfather’s Pizza Returns to Arizona After Nearly TWO Decades

April 2, 2026

After nearly 20 years away, Godfather’s Pizza is officially back in Arizona—and longtime fans couldn’t be more excited.

The Omaha-based pizza chain has opened a new location in Queen Creek, marking its return to the state after an 18-year absence. For many, especially those who have relocated from the Midwest, the comeback brings a strong sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

Franchise owner Bruce Cannon, who has been involved with the brand for over 40 years, shared that the response has been immediate. The name alone sparked recognition, but it’s the signature style—hearty, generously topped pizzas—that’s bringing customers back again and again.

At the heart of the menu are the classics that built the brand’s reputation. The “Classic Combo,” loaded with pepperoni, beef, sausage, vegetables, and mozzarella, has long been a fan favorite and a defining item since the company’s early days. Another standout is the “Taco Pie,” a more unique offering that layers taco-seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes for a bold twist on traditional pizza.

Cannon also points to the “Humble Pie” as a personal favorite—a fully loaded option that lives up to its name with both flavor and portion size.

Originally founded in 1973 by Willy Theisen and Greg Johnson in Omaha, Godfather’s Pizza has a unique origin story. What began as a collaboration between a bar owner and a neighboring pizza shop quickly evolved into a national brand. By the early 1980s, the company had grown to hundreds of locations across the country, becoming one of the largest pizza chains in the U.S. at the time.

Now, with its return to Arizona, Godfather’s Pizza is tapping into both its legacy and a new generation of customers. The brand’s “pizza piled high” philosophy still defines its identity, offering a different experience from the typical pizza spot.

For locals and newcomers alike, it’s more than just another restaurant opening—it’s the return of a well-known favorite that blends nostalgia, flavor, and a bit of Midwest tradition right here in the Valley.
