One of my favorite things about Arizona is that there's always something new to explore beyond the usual hiking trails, restaurants and outdoor adventures.
And if you love art, Arizona has so much to offer! From meeting local artists in their studios to browsing beautiful galleries and discovering handmade pieces at outdoor festivals, there are plenty of ways to experience the state's creative side.
Experience AZ magazine recently highlighted five incredible art excursions across Arizona, featuring everything from fine art exhibitions to seasonal festivals and artist studio tours.
Here are five worth checking out!
Upcoming Events:
Vermillion Art Festivals organizes boutique art events focused on craftsmanship, originality and connecting artists with collectors. Visitors can browse paintings, jewelry, sculptures and mixed-media artwork while meeting the artists behind the pieces.
These upcoming festivals offer opportunities to discover both traditional and contemporary artwork in Arizona.
Located in Sedona, Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art features an impressive 20,000-square-foot collection of sculptures, glasswork, paintings and contemporary art from artists around the world.
The award-winning gallery showcases everything from large-format statement pieces to intricate works of art, with knowledgeable staff available to help visitors explore the collection.
It's a great addition to a Sedona getaway, especially if you enjoy fine art and discovering new artists.
When: January 16 – March 28, 2027
Celebration of Fine Art brings together 100 artists across 40,000 square feet of working studios near Hayden Road and Mayo Boulevard in Scottsdale.
What makes this experience unique is that visitors can watch artists create their work in real time. From painting and sculpture to jewelry and mixed-media art, the event gives guests a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process.
You can also meet the artists, ask questions and learn more about the inspiration behind their work.
When: November 20–22 and November 27–29, 2026
Hidden in the Hills is the Sonoran Arts League's signature artist studio tour, featuring working artists throughout Cave Creek, Carefree and North Scottsdale.
Instead of visiting a traditional gallery, guests can explore artists' studios and meet painters, potters, photographers and metalworkers in their creative spaces.
It's a more personal way to experience Arizona's art community while discovering original pieces and seeing where the creative process happens.
When: December 11–13, 2026
Tucson's Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair transforms the historic Fourth Avenue district into a lively celebration of art, music and local creativity.
The biannual event features artists, makers, musicians and food vendors, with plenty of handmade goods and original artwork to explore.
It's a fun way to spend the day browsing unique finds, enjoying live entertainment and experiencing Tucson's creative community.
One of the things I love most about living in Arizona is how much there is to discover, even after you've explored the popular destinations.
Whether you're spending a weekend in Sedona, planning a Scottsdale outing, exploring the communities of Cave Creek and Carefree, or heading south to Tucson, these art experiences offer something a little different.
And with several festivals and studio tours happening throughout November and December, it's a great time to get out, support artists and discover something new.
